A Look in the Mirror

A new study from AT&T Laboratories and the University of Pennsylvania shows that a whopping 77% of pirated movies available on file sharing networks appear to be “inside jobs”. A majority of films have either been released online before the public DVD/VHS release, or show other signs that the initial leak would have to have been done by someone within the industry.

In many cases, pre-shipped digital copies of a movie is a $100M piece of content that employees are taking home and distributing over the Internet.
